Made in Northamptonshire … now a TV star and going nationwide

Pip, Georgina and Anna Jeyes with their famous sauce

Pip, Georgina and Anna with their famous ‘Jeyes’s Northamptonshire Sauce’

The heritage and history of local food has been part of the story in The Apothocoffee Shop at Jeyes of Earls Barton, who have been supporting ‘Made in Northamptonshire’ producers for many years. We were thrilled to learn that their very own Jeyes’s Northamptonshire Sauce was going to be featured in the final for the ‘Sauce-cupboard’ episode of Aldi’s Next Big Thing.

After the recording, Georgina reflects on the event. These are her words:

“Pip and Anna promoted the cooking and the versatility of the sauce, whilst I focused on the story of Philadelphus Jeyes’ 1835 recipe - renowned and sold throughout town and county. The Aldi Judge, Julie Ashfield was concerned that it may, albeit excellent, be ‘too regional’. While I saw myself on national TV promoting my talk ‘The Sources of the Sauces’, she worried that 990 appearances all over the country may even be too much for a chatterbox like me! It was a challenging but fun adventure – and one that has helped give Northamptonshire more presence as a foodie county – which is great!”
