Sylvia Hughes

Sylvia Hughes is a Fellow and long-standing supporter of the University of Northampton. She served as a Governor from 2010-2019, latterly holding the positions of Deputy Chair and Chair of the Board of Governors.
Sylvia is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Her organisational development and strategic resourcing career spans the financial services, telecommunications, high-tech and service industries, where she has undertaken a variety of senior and board level roles in organisational development, human resource management, change management and management development.
Among the executive and board level roles Sylvia has held are Head of Organisational Development for Halifax plc, Personnel Director for Siemens BCS, Head of Development Training and Head of Cable & Wireless Board- Sponsored Global Federal Leadership Project and Strategic Resourcing with Hoggett Bowers in the city.
Sylvia’s community work includes serving as Chair of the Northamptonshire Health and Wellbeing Board, Chair of Crimestoppers for Northamptonshire and she is a former trustee for SUNARMA, a charity specialising in sustainable natural resource management in Ethiopia.
