The Canal Museum, Stoke Bruerne

Housed on two floors of a historic corn mill, the country’s first canal museum offers a fascinating insight into the rich waterway heritage of the area, the Grand Union Canal and the local people that lived and worked on them.

Get hands-on in the first floor family gallery with sights, sounds and smells from canal history! Or join us for our activity programme that runs through the summer. If you fancy just sitting and watching the boats go by, relax in the themed cafe which offers seasonal menus with local produce.

Heading outside, a short walk along the towpath in one direction is the famous Blisworth Tunnel whilst heading the other way leads you to the locks. Don't forget to visit the historic workboat 'Sculptor' which is moored up outside the museum.

There is something for everyone at this unique site.
