Kettering and District Art Society
Enthusiasm for painting lessons given in Kettering by H Sylvester Stannard in the 1880s resulted in the formation of an Art Society in 1905, its first President being J Alfred Gotch. Sir Alfred East RA and Thomas Cooper Gotch NEAC were both Vice-Presidents from the beginning, along with Walter B Gash. Encouraged by these well-known and highly regarded artists, the group flourishes as Kettering and District Art Society, and is now over 110 years old, among the oldest of Art Societies in the country.
It’s primarily an exhibiting Society and today has over 150 members. New members are always welcome. Their annual Exhibition is open to all members. They can exhibit works in their joint venture with The Friends of Kettering Art Gallery and Museum in our ARTworks Creative Space in the Newlands Centre, Kettering.
